The Technology & Certifications

How long has this technology been around? The technology began in 2001, and utility companies have relied on similar power-conditioning for decades to stabilize the grid. The original patent for this specific application expired in 2017.

What certifications does OTEA hold? All units are UL Listed (USA) and cUL Listed (Canada). They are NEMA 3R rated (safe for indoor/outdoor use) and proudly manufactured in Texas, USA.

How long does the install take? An install takes about 1 to 2 hours per commercial unit.  There will be very limited disruption in service.

How fast can I order? It will arrive in about 1 week in most scenarios from the date of order. Commercial properties often require a site survey but may be done by a cell phone frequently.

What does “Self-Healing” mean? In power optimization, “self-healing” refers to the device’s ability to automatically recover after electrical disturbances like voltage spikes or harmonic events. Instead of requiring a manual reset or blowing out like a standard surge protector, the system stabilizes internally and resumes normal operation on its own.

Note: It does not repair damaged equipment—it restores itself to proper working condition after irregularities.

What are the electrical limits and frequency?

  • Voltage: Units are operational up to 480V Three-Phase.

  • Global Frequency: OTEA functions seamlessly on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems.

If my facility has multiple panels, do I need multiple units? Yes. OTEA provides optimization and surge protection for the specific panel where it is installed. To achieve full-building protection and maximum efficiency, each primary electrical panel requires its own unit.

Compatibility & Stacking

Is it stackable with other technologies? Yes. OTEA is stackable with many technologies and products especially high load components. solar-ready and pairs seamlessly with commercial solar to reduce motor consumption and sell more power back to the grid, and many more.  It also works alongside our BEAP utility bill bidding program for maximum energy stacking.

Is it safe for unique or expensive equipment? While OTEA is safe for standard commercial environments, we are a fiduciary company and prioritize your infrastructure. It is always safe to ask your representative if you have unique electrical devices or extremely expensive specialized equipment so we can review it during your site survey.

Installation & Results

Who installs the system? Installation is handled by licensed commercial contractors. Most commercial installs take under one hour.

How do I know it’s working? Its is powered on by a simple green light. But simply knowing its on does e measure our success results. We strongly recommend using an AMP Clamp during installation to see your load reduction in real-time. We are now also implementing Answer Boxes for further supporting evidence. Most importantly you bill is the best evidence. No remember you have to compare it to history at the same time in similar weather conditions and similar usage.

Do you install residential units? Energy Agent focuses on Commercial & Industrial (C&I). However, residential units are available upon request through a licensed broker. If you are a homeowner interested in the SMART Optimizer series, please contact us directly.

The "Why" for Commercial Facilities

  • Why do commercial facilities benefit the most? Commercial buildings depend heavily on motors and inductive loads—HVAC rooftop units, refrigeration, walk-in coolers, pumps, compressors, and elevators. These motors generate harmonic distortion, heat, and reactive losses that OTEA directly addresses at the panel level.

Surge Protection Specifics

  • Does OTEA provide surge protection for the whole building? OTEA provides surge protection for every breaker and every circuit connected to the specific panel where it is installed. If your facility has multiple panels, each one requires its own unit to achieve full-building surge protection.

The "24-Hour" Truth

  • How soon will I see results? While you can often see an immediate drop in amperage on an AMP clamp, it typically takes about 24 hours for the system to settle into a smooth harmonic flow.

  • Are there tax deductions? YES. There are advantage assets. We strongly encourage you to consult with your tax advisor. OTEA often qualifies for substantial advantages, including the 30% Federal ITC, the 10% Made in the USA bonus, and specific benefits for Churches and Schools.

Warranty & Returns

What is the warranty and return process? We offer a 10-Year Warranty with a 25-year life expectancy.

  • Requirement: 12 months of utility bills must be on file prior to installation for warranty eligibility.

  • Malfunctions: Warranty applies if the unit is malfunctioning (e.g., the green light is not on).

What Power Optimization Really Means

Power optimization is the process of cleaning, stabilizing, and conditioning electricity before it moves through a building’s electrical system.

In most commercial and industrial facilities, incoming power is not “clean.” It contains harmonic distortion, voltage fluctuations, electrical noise, and inefficiencies created by modern equipment such as motors, compressors, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), IT hardware, and LED lighting.

OTEA addresses these issues at the electrical infrastructure level, improving how power is delivered and used—without changing how your equipment operates.
